"Fast food or Casual dining?"... I don't think it's either... it's the WORST of both worlds.

I don't like their way of serving and pricing their food but I do like the product. Their hamburgers are probably the best quality meat you will find in a fast food restaurant, but their fries leave a lot to be desired and I can't hardly drink their coffee.

Steak n Shake is definitely a fast food restaurant. The question is does anyone ever get their food fast there?

If they weren't so slow and made your order incorrectly most of the time I would say casual dining their DT service is terrible. Their price and food suggest casual dining so eat in and call it casual dining go to DT and call it fast food Slow and Wrong.

Fast food if you go through the drive through, casual dining if you are inside and served by a waitress.

I consider Steak n Shake a waste of white paint and glass. The burgers are too thin. The fries go cold way too fast.

Redeeming factor; the shakes

If you have to ask that question, you certainly are no gourmet. Fast food. Now find out what casual dining is and you won't have to expose your ignorance again with this question.
