Bloody Nipple discharge specially in post menopausal women is a matter of great concern as it is a possible symptom of breast cancer. See your doctor so a smear of that discharge can be done with a breast exam. In pregnant or nursing women bloody or purulent (pus) discharge usually associated with fever can be a sign of an infection of the breast which would also need medical attention

Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the breast. It is estimated 1 in every 7 American women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. 220,000 American women will develop breast cancer this year.

Symptoms of breast cancer include:


Discharge from the nipple(clear or bloody)


Persistent tenderness of the breast


pain in the nipple


swelling or mass in the armpit (lymph nodes)


inverted or scaly nipples


a lump that can be felt no matter how small


swelling of the breast
Sometimes there are no symptoms of breast cancer when its in the early stages...

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding it could be a serious infection. Go to the ER immediately!

This should never happen if you aren't breastfeeding. See a Doctor ASAP. It could be a sympton of Cancer.
