I love the name Maharet for a girl...?

I read it in an Anne Rice book, but I haven't been able to find it's meaning...does anyone know?

I think it's a great name, but I don't know what it means either.

** Ok, I just did a quick search, and I can't come up with anything, either. That only makes me like the name more. You might try asking Mrs. Rice herself, her website is www.annerice.com.
