Most of the above answers are great. However I agree with Janis Joplin being the greatest. Tied for second is maybe Chryssie Hynde of the Pretenders, Nancy Wilson of Heart, and Pat Benatar.

Pat Benatar for sure.....but I also like Beth Gibbons from Portishead. I love her music.
