~I would suggest you sell your computer to raise money to pay for your insurance and registration. In so doing, you wouldn't have to worry about being arrested in the first place. My one hope is you are truly tried by a jury of what I assume to be your peers. Kiss it goodbye, turkey.

At least in CA, you're not entitled to a jury trial in traffic matters. Juries only apply to criminal matters that are misdemeanors or felonies. Traffic matters are infractions and don't meet that criteria.

You made the decision to accept the consequences of your actions when you picked up the keys and headed for the car, knowing it was unregistered and without insurance. It doesn't really matter what your side of the story is.... you broke the law and you knew it before you did it. Time to own up to your stuff.

It is illegal to drive an uninsured and unregistered vehicle in Texas. Why do you think you are special? Sometimes I don't have a lot of money but I still obey the law, I register my truck and I insure it also. Why would you want a jury trial, that the rest of us would have to pay for to explain why you broke the law and should not have to suffer the consequences?

You screwed up... face the judge and take your punishment like a man. What makes you think a jury is going to help you? From what you have stated, you broke the law in more ways then one.

Look , just go to court ok? Plead no contest, and the judge will let you speak. Keep it simple and explain your circumstances, and he may show lenience, not put points on your license, etc. If you are sure you can prove that you are innocent, you may enter a plea of innocent and you'll get some sort of hearing. Call the court itself and you'll get some good info on this. Obviously you need to get insurance and registration, or you aren't going to be able to drive.

Have you ever heard of a "Summary Judgment?"

Read about it and then decide if you want to waste your time playing lawyer:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summary_judgment

Courts are not interested in your life story, nor would you be allowed to discuss your life with the jury.

Most likely, you would be found guilty and ordered not only to pay the fines, you would also be charged court costs.

Good luck.

I used to live in garland. I suggest you get and attorney. You wont win and you will pay and possibly wind up having a suspended license if it isnt already.

A basic tenant of law is, questions of law are heard by a judge while questions of fact are heard by a jury.
