Let's put it another way with the question stated a bit differently.....

What kind of mileage will your car get while idling (sp*) ? ?

Answer: IF your cars gets, say, 20 MPG going down the highway, and 14 MPG while driving in city traffic ......

It will ONLY GET 0.00 MPG WHILE STANDING STILL IF THE ENGINE IS RUNNING.

so no, turning on/off the car does not waste any fuel when compared to leaving it running and getting a BIG FAT ZERO for mileage.

Besides all that, with fuel injection you will use NO extra fuel to start a vehicle.

No. You use a lot more battery power, but you don't require a ton of gas to start an engine. 5 minutes of idle time without doubt uses more gas. But, the constant on and off can wear on many parts of the car.

On most modern engines, thirty seconds to one minute of idle time (or more) uses more gas than starting it up. If you will be out of the vehicle longer than that, shut it off. Besides, an idling vehicle with no one in it is an invitation for theft.

It is not true. If its not running, its not using gas. Start up doesn't use more fuel at all.

Yes! Takes more gas to start it then to keep it running.

Probably not true, since hybrid technology does this very thing--shuts off your engine when you are standing still.
