I've done a lot of running off and on for my whole life, but always distance running, never sprinting. I gave the hundred meter a try today, with no specific training and no starting block. I had already run a few miles and was slightly fatigued. Have I discovered a new talent?

I got about the same time without starting blocks when a senior in high school during gym class. I like u never ran the 100 meter before. The PE teacher was also the track coach and he wanted me to go out for the track team. But I declined since I was senior. So your time compares favorably to one hasn't trained for the 100 meters. Also I believe the world record is 9.78 seconds so much closer to 10 seconds than 9. Keep going and it will come down.

Well , it sort of matters on old you are , but for me 13 .6 seconds is pretty fast .I'm in 4th grade and I ran 8 .4 seconds for the 50 meter dash ,so if you double that it is 16.8 seconds the fastest person in 4th grade ran 7 seconds for the 50 meter dash and well you can do the math.

hope that helps.

It helps if I know your age. But generally, your distance running is a great "base" for speed training. You may or may not have talent. But now you are curious about it, so buy you a good book or find a track club near you. Find a good runner's store - not Foot Locker nor Athlete's Foot - but a non-chain runner's store and network.

I believe the world record is around 9 seconds. But keep training and see if you improve.

For the first time 13.6? Wow! That's pretty good! I'm not the biggest person, but my personal best is 16.02 or something, maybe it was 15.98, but I'm not the best sprinter/runner. Also, I've had training, so for your first time, that's a great time! Keep improving, and training (starting blocks help a lot!)

it depends on how old you are. if your in middle school thats great. if your out of college and just trying to stay fit then thats good as well. if your trying to compete with that time in high school or college and your male then its not so good. by the way the world record is 9.77 seconds by gatlin usa and powell jamica
they race on july 28.

that is very good because the world record is like 9 seconds and it was the first time in your life to do that

that's very good, the elite NFL players run the 40 in about 4.35 seconds, so your time is a tab behind them if they continue on to 100, which isn't too bad.
