As long as the brightness isn't turned up to the point it causes eye discomfort and you don't spend hours on end watching TV, I don't see where it could cause any harm.
I was a TV repairman for over 30 years, and not once did I hear a complaint about physical harm caused by viewing TV.
What it will do to your mind, that's another story :).

Actually starring at the television can affect your vision. Focusing on anything for to long can weaken the lenses in the eye. If you are close to the object you are staring at then you'll probably develope nearsidedness. If you are far from what you are constantly staring at you'll probably develope farsidedness.

yes i think it does. not becuase being close to the tv and the tv sends waves out that effects your eyes, but when your close to the tv you have to focus at a close distance from your eyes for along period of time that can slowly cause blury eyes. etc.

in accordance to my optometrist, older televisions could reason some harm to resourceful and prescient because of the fact they launch gentle radiation, yet greater recent televisions have corrected this subject. attempt to get your son to stand a honest distant far off from a clock or poster and see if he can study it. in case you could and he can not, as properly as wanting to squint his eyes to work out, i might propose getting his eyes checked.
