The 1964-1974 (the only true Pontiac GTOs) were built in the USA. My personal favorite, the '66, is a particularly outstanding specimen of the muscle-car era. However the Holden based GTO, which is a great car due to it's detuned Corvette drivetrain, is produced in the suburb of Elizabeth South Australia.
Thanks to our Austrailian brethern, GM was able to keep the rear wheel drive platform and not ruin the badge like it has with many other of it's great former champions. Seriously needs a styling update. It was 5 years old when it came out!
