I know I was confused too! I asked and i was told that it's like a new punk/goth thing. They wear black, black hair, they are skateboarders a lot of times. It stands for Emotional...emotional rocker. Listens to stuff like My Chemical Romance.

Goth and emo aren't exactly the same thing, and everyones opinion differs on who emo people are, to me, emo people are:
People who wear black or very dark colors
Listen to emo music, punk music (sad music basically.)
Like Chains
Like to dye their hair
Think about death
Suidcidle
Sad :(
Theres a lot more.. But surprisingly, they aren't the same as Goth.

all these people are wrong.
okay.well.
it means "emotional."
the kids hate their lives for some reason. sometimes they cut themselves, to help the emotional pain. they listen to screamo or hardcore music. they cut their hair and dye it black, sometimes with bleached blonde parts or unnatural colors. they wear tight pants and are skinny as heck (girls and bois.)
they wear multicolred makeup - even the bois sometimes.
a lot of them hang out in front of the mall and just stand there and smoke and talk about emo things.
and they ALL have MySpace. hahahah.
