You're half right, Hon. We give aide to countries that hate us because we are civil. The war is not about oil. It's about women's rights, the chance to give a fascist society controlled by dictators a chance at democracy in hopes that they will become peaceful and not want to kill us. Terrorism is not a joke, and it's very real. If we pull out now our national security is at stake.
This war gives the people in Iraq and Afghanistan the opportunity to provide a future and a life for their grandchildren. If we can give them that, then why would they want to harm us. In the history of the world, no two democratic nations have been in a war.
Revenue in the stock market and the economy is up. Unemployment is down. There is a plan in effect (budgeted by GW Bush) that will erase the national deficit in less than 3 years.
As far as sending foreign aide overseas while our children starve... thank the libs for that. They're so concerned with social programs like welfare and affirmative action, that they've lost sight of what is right and true.

Well the people who say it is about oil obviously have a liberal bias. We all know that the war is to fight terrorism and screw the terrorists for what they did to us on 9/11. And I believe the reason that the U.S. is hated is for the same reasons that the Roman Empire was hated. They had the greatest military and the greatest economy and flaunted it as well. And the U.S. is like the Roman government in that we have over confident blow-hard politicians who have all kinds of answers but are always trying to please everyone so they never get elected. And it's only the quiet ones in the senate and congress who actually mean well. So having said that I'd say that America must look like a somewhat corrupt system. And the world has also seen that we made asses of ourselves in Iraq when we should have reminded ourselves of Vietnam when we basically had the same strategy. Go in, bomb them up for the first month or so, then underestimate the Resistance movement. And if we cut off aid to countries that hated us then we'd be going back to the way the country was after World War I when we didn't want anything to do with the wars in the rest of the world. And because of that we didn't see Pearl Harbor coming. But the main reason as I've said before for why they hate us is because we have idiots in power and because they are a bit jealous that we can just give away all that money like that.
But if you were asking why the Middle East hates us then it's because of the Crusades during the middle ages. the crusaders when they entered Jerusalem, murdered every one in the city. they broke into the mosque and slaughtered all inside, then they burned the people inside the synogogue, and they even killed those they were going to "protect", the Christians. So sinc ethen the Muslims have viewed the western world as savage.

People do hate us because we are the most powerful. I know that Iran hates us because a long time ago they were Persia and they believe that they should be powerful like they were back in the day. Since we are powerful and they aren't they hate us. Some hate us do to religion. Some hate us for the war. People don't think. We go in to Iraq and capture Saddam, a horrible leader who killed thousands. To make progress you have to make sacrifices. All the countries care about is the present. If you look at the U.S. we fought wars to get where we are meaning sacrifice. People need to think of long term benefits and not only the present

The people pay it back, the rich and the oil companies and their stockholders get rich.
A better idea would be to cut off aid to Republicans, especially those making over $200,000 a year!
Vote democrat. Get the thief's out of office!!

Read, or watch the film version of, THE UGLY AMERICAN.
We're hated because we're the biggest bullies on the block. And does it hurt any less if the bully gives you a lollipop before he beats you to a pulp?

It's kind of like when your kids are too big for you to spank, you give them privileges. Then if they don't behave, you take away those privileges. If there aren't any privileges to be lost, then there is no incentive to be good.
The short answer is: bribing them is cheaper than subduing them by other means.
