Do you pay the sitter? If so, treat her as you would any other employee. If she can't follow instructions, she should be replaced. If the sitter watches your daughter as a favor to you, i.e., you don't pay her or you don't pay her very much, perhaps you need to consider how much of a favor she is actually doing you if she disregards your wishes.

Find a new babysitter. Your childs health is at risk here. Artifical flavors on a daily basis will make your child finickie about real food and you said this has already happened.
You need to worry. If the babysitter can't go along with your rules on food and feeding, what else will she do that you don't agree with?
Your baby's taste buds are being set up for a future of bad habits if it takes artifical flavors to feed her. I believe the babysitter does this to get the baby to eat and eat faster, It is for her own benefite and not good for the baby.

Ah! As a mommy and a nanny, I can't imagine putting artificial flavoring in a baby's food! If she can't honor your wishes for your baby, she should be fired. Lots of people left you good advice here, so all I'll add is that there's a great book called "Super Baby Food" that goes into detail about what kind of foods babies need each month of their development. I'll be using it when my daughter's old enough to eat solids.

Well first off you are paying the babysitter just like you pay for other services you have every right to say how you feel and tell her that you dont appreciate her doing that...now as for other things add some cinnamon or any type of gerber fruit to your baby's cereal....every baby has their ups and downs about what they eat...cheerios are great they teach them excellent hand eye cordination...I have had eight kids and all of them loved cheerios...just stay away from honey, peanut butter, shellfish, and strawberries until they turn one and for the peanut butter until they are two....gerber now makes great things for them to use with their hands and that are small and they dissolve fast less of a chocking hazard...if she has teeth then that's great but my kids didnt have teeth for awhile good luck

when i make dinner for my family i set aside a big portion before seasoning and puree it then freeze little portions in the ice cube tray, now that my daughter is 10mo on Sunday she eats about two to three cubes.
I'm a daycare provider and i am urging you to either tell her to stop or change babysitters but you must not forget this is YOUR child and not hers.
once a child is introduced to flavor it will refuse to eat non flavored food, just think of yourself, would you sit down and eat a meal without seasoning, no, because you know what salt tastes like

if you don't want your baby having the artificial flavoring then just tell your babysitter how you feel about it. Either she does what you ask, or you find a new babysitter. This is your baby not hers. Put your foot down!

For my children I go and buy the frozen vegis, Boil them, then put them in the blender. The good thing about that is you don't have to keep buying all those jars of food your baby will eat healthy foods, and tell the baby sitter to stop using or doing what ever you don't want her to. It's your child, don't be afraid to stand up for her and yourself. The baby sitter should know to ask anyway.

My children never ate Gerber or anything artificial when they wee babies instead i made vegetables for them with some chicken broth or beef and smashed them up I also gave them a lot of fruit I boiled them with sugar and smashed it up for them it is healthier and economical. you can also give her some of what you eat and put it in a blender (not too much) for them to enjoy and start getting used to your cooking . leave everything ready so that your babysitter just heats it up.

At 8 months old, all three of my kids were eating table foods, with the exception of honey. They even had milk, though it was watered down 1 ounce to 3 ounces of water. The doctor said that it was fine and the kids thrived.

If she isn't listening to your wishes on the added flavouring, what else is she disregarding?
Frankly, unless the sitter is watching your child for free, I would first ask her directly to stop and explain why, then if she does it again, find another sitter. You are the mother.
