If you just found out someone close to you (like your mom or best friend) died today, and you have an invitro scheduled for tomorrow, would you still have the procedure? If you do, what would you say to family and friends who disagreed with your decision? If you would not, how long would you wait to have it done? Also the person who died was your biggest supporter for the invitro procedure.

It is absolutely no business of the family and friends whether or not a person gets invitro fertilization. They have no say in the matter whatsoever. The only opinions that matter are the individual's and the partner's, if there is a partner. This is a very personal decision.

If the person is feeling extremely upset over the loss, they may want to wait until such a time that they are more able to handle the grief, just to be on the safe side. People have better luck with pregnancies when they aren't under great emotional distress. When things become more manageable for the individual, they should go ahead with the procedure (if they still wish to do so) in fond memory of their departed loved one.

Good luck with this theoretical dilemma :)
