Red tailed hawk or falcon. And it depends on the size of game you wish to hunt as well. But it is best to get these birds while they are very young and hand feed them. They will be easier to handle and will return more willingly than an older bird.

I happen to know somseone that really gets into this and he told me the best hawk to get is a young red tail hawk, they are easier to work with he said. You sure picked an interesting hobby, good luck.
