Right Click the task bar, click PROPERTIES. A small window will appear, work from there. there are 2 tabs on that window, START MENU & TASKBAR.

Windows XP? If so...try this.
START - CONTROL PANEL - TASKBAR and START MENU
You can get rid of the clock, have a Classic Start Menu (as in Win 98) hide many options like my docs and..oh! Take a look at it dude.

Right click on your desktop and go to preferences and click on appearance and change it there. Also, you can right click on a blank space on the taskbar and you can change some preferences there. You can also try the control panel for some Appearance settings as well.

position your mouse on an empty space on the task bar, then right click and choose Properties. You can then do all your hearts desire to modify how your taskbar looks like.
