Ok, I know that they have been up to something but they delete it off of History so is there any other way to find out what they have been up to? If so how do I do it?

Assuming you may not be too PC literate, I will show you step by step.
1: Right-click on My Computer icon on the Desktop. (if you don't see it, that's ok - go to step 8)
2: Select Explore from the menu
3: Select Local Disk C: in the left panel
4: Left-click once to highlight the drive in blue then...
5: ...Right-click and select Search...
A search window will appear, ok....
6: In the All or part of file name, type History
7: Open the History folder to see sites (URL's)
8: Click Start - Run and type EXPLORER.EXE
9: Do step 3 to 7
10 Repeat your Search, but replace History with Recent in your search. The Recent will show you all of the naughty pix and movies etc they have been viewing!....and good luck.
If you need further help (I work for Internet company in UK) let me know as I am always willing to help - even when I have just finished work and missed the England World Cup Match!

I assume you were asking about Internet browsing history and you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer.

There are 2 ways to acomplish your goal:

1. Check C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

This folder captures cookies ("Holds information on the times and dates you have visited web sites. Other information can also be saved to your hard disk in these text files, including information about online purchases, validation information about you for members-only web sites, and more." ~ http://www.ontrack.com/glossary/) of every website your kids visited.

From the internet adress column, you can guess sites that you think are not appropriate for your kids. If you can't tell whether the website is appropriate or not, sometimes it has image files that you can check (such as gif, or jpeg).

What you do is:

a. select the file
b. right click then copy
c. click on your desktop, right click anywhere in empty area, and hit paste
d. you, then, double click the pasted file to view what kind of picture your kid seen.

2. You can also buy a program to track your kids activity. See http://www.software4parents.com/ for detail information. I personally don't familiar with these software, but I think these ones would put you in charge.

I do believe the best solution is a clear & honest communication between parents and children. Please read the following section about being online safe for kids:

Hope it helps...

Here's some software that will do the trick:

da.co.la.ca.us/pok/compcop1.htm

Information: www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9135838/site/newsweek
www.netbus.org/computer-tracking-software.html

Spectro Pro is another one where you can't go wrong:

Here are some discussions re same:

You're probably looking at a Global Positioning Tracking chip and software, but this will give you alternatives to just going to "History". Don't feel guilty; it's for their own protection. Good luck.

Go to the start button right click-explore- then look in the temp internet files. you have to manually erase those. I hope that helps. Also you can get a program at Bust Buy if you need it. Also there is a way to loc your internet and only a password will alow them to view pages you approve of. You have to say ok you can look at that and enter your pass word every page you approve of , it only ask you the first time they want to view it. after that the password is not needed.

For that you go to the control pannel-internet options-security- then explore it from there.

you'll have to say which brouser they are using as they are different setups. Yes, there are 'sneaky ways' of tracking computer usage but I have to know what brouser they used.

Maybe of some help (any brouser) you can clk the down arrow at the right side of the location bar to see what was typed in for a site to go to.

Talk to them. What would you do when you find out where they have visited and see the pictures/videos they viewed? You don't need a proof. You shouldn't accuse them of seeing X rated adult material. You should talk to them about how they shouldn't get hooked on that stuff. It is like a drug.

go in to C:/Windows/History, and youll find everything. Also there is a program that you can download that records every keystroke and program run. Heres a pretty good download

Well, check the recycle bin it may not have been comepletly deleted. Or you can get parental programs that will track where they go.

click your start bar, hit search and look for "temporary internet files"... if they haven't been smart enough to delete that, you might find some info in there...
