Matt Schroebel was fired for Stealing Data?

I the word on the net is that Matthew Schroebel was fired from the United States Humane Society for stealing their client base for his own purposes. Has anyone else heard of these issue? As it is also strange the that Veteran's Administration database disappeared around the same time, anyone have any ideas?
