If my home were at stake, I would not be worried about safe and natural...HOWEVER...since you asked. I have found that first get rid of old damp wood anywhere near the house, basement window sills, landscape timber, old trees or bushes. Old mulch.
After these things are removed then spread BORIC ACID in the basement sills, around windows, and around the outside foundation of the home, barn and sheds. All old wood is an invitation to carpenter ants, termites, and Carpenter bees.
Once again I would call in an exterminator who's company has a guarantee, and not mess with the home I love with organic methods this time. I hope you weigh the costs. luck, Bugsie
