It's not too bad. They put you to sleep. They make 4 small incisions. One just over the belly button, and 3 in your upper right abdomen. They pump you full of air and use a scope to guide them. Then they remove it and sew you up.

The worst part I found was the gas. You get serious gas pains. Take my advice and just fart. Don't be shy about it cuz it's the only way. The gas pains lasted for about 2 days. They wouldn't even let me leave the hospital until I farted. (nurse's exact words: U cant leave until you fart)

After u expell the gas its not bad at all.

It's way better than that horrid gall stone pain!!!!

I had my gall bladder out a year and a half ago. I had never had any problems, until one day...BAM. It hit me like a ton of bricks. It was the worst pain I ever had. My husband said I was so stupid acting, that I asked them to kill me in the hospital. I had just had a c-section a week earlier, so they had to rule out some things before they figured out it was my gall bladder. I was in the hospital for 3 days all drugged up. Then they took it out, and I was so much better after. I went home 18 hours after surgery, and I felt great. It was done laproscopy (or how ever you spell that). 4 little holes, the biggest was in the belly button. No stitches. It was breeze, compared to the c-section the week before. Myself, and several people I know have had it done, and its been a success. Dont worry, if you are about to have it done. You will feel so much better. Afterwards, you have to watch what you eat for a few weeks...too much fat will send you straight to the bathroom...and fast!

For me it was awful. I am so sorry if you are having to go through this. The recovery time was very slow for me and the soreness afterwards was almost unbareable. After about 2 1/2 wks you should start feeling better. But be aware your body will have some changes after the surgery. Be careful of some things you would have eaten before the surgery b/c it can upset your stomach and i have also found that i cant digest lettuce very well either if you get my drift.
Good Luck!!!!!

Check the Dr. out first. I had mine taken out and the Dr. left gall stones in my bile duct. I felt fine a few days after surgery. Then I was in the hospital a month later for a week and off work for over a month.

the surgery was not too bad, a lot of gas pain after, plus some pain from the incision. but i was sick for almost 2 -4 weeks after the surgery, any thing i ate or drank would give me horrible stomach cramps and diarrhea. i still have to watch what i eat fairly close......but its not nearly as bad as the pain before
