I play acoustic, and have been taking lessons for about a year and the electric has really caught my attention. The guitar should be well working and cheap.

Many years ago, I moved from acoustic to electric. I honestly don't feel that there is a perfect electric guitar for anyone moving from acoustic. Each style of guitar has specific features: fretboard width, body shape, scale, weight. The only way you are going to enjoy your new electric is for you to go to a store and try various styles to see which is the most comfortable for YOU. Now, that being said, you will have some difficulty at first with the strings because generally speaking electrics are strung with lighter strings than an acoustic. Your strum is going to be affected, as you are used to strumming harder than you would strum an electric. I started with thin picks but eventually moved to heavy picks as my hands became used to the lighter attack that's required. So, my advice: go try some electrics and have fun.

An electric is a lot easier to play than an electric because of the "action" which is the closeness of the strings to the neck.Just try different guitars in your price range at a music store or pawn shop for one that feels comfortable and sounds good. Save some money leftover for a cord and amplifier. If you can find one, maybe a Strat copy. Fenders are too expensive but there are a lot of good copies of the Strat..

Find an electric-acoustic. Great, because since you're already an acoustic guitar player, you will get tired of the anoying sound of cheap guitar/cheap amp combo, and you can unplug, and continue playing.
