Yes As it become more expensive to equip high school football players and soccer is replacing football in many programs the US will start to develope more and better players. Just due to population numbers alone and the american love affair with sports the US will be a serious contender by 2025.

Eventually. More and more excellent athletes are playing soccer in the this country and it's just a matter of time before they produce the right blend of players and coaching. Going into this World Cup, they were ranked 5th in the world....but a long way behind Brazil and others, such as the Czech Republic.

Of course, we just lag behind all the other countries, but since soccer seems to have replaced little league baseball, as the sport of choice for kids, it won't be long until we are solid contenders.

this year seemed like we had a shot, but alas, no deal...the u.s. is one of the only nations that does not list soccer as its' most popular sport, so right there, the level of talent, and interest at a younger age will definately be alot lower than other nations...i think we're headed in the right direction as of late though, with more interest on espn, and more enthusiasm at the youth level, so give the u.s. another tournament or two.

This is the first generation of americans playing football. The next one will be much better. Nobody realizes how long it took to countrys like Netherlands and Holland to become as good as they are today.

No. I think it's becuase a lot of americans don't play soccer so it's hard to find lot's of good players. Plus the other teams are just better then the americans, and I don't think we will be able to overcome them anytime soon.

Though it's never impossible =)

I think that once the American people embrace soccer as the rest of the world...then yeah ...otherwise, good luck. ...and until America understands that soccer is a team game, strategy and precision.

No, the best players in the USA are from other countries, and will represent their home country, not the US.

I think once they start putting as much emphasis on soccer as they do other sports then they would have a shot.
