They carry on about abortion being murder, yet they are holding hands with the NRA. Don't guns kill people, too? People who have already been born?

Is this some sort of paradox?
Or can it be explained in a way that doesn't sound like the hypocritical rhetoric that the conservatives are so good at?

So the next time some liberal D&D player comes in and starts smoking you and your students "Professor", we'll just stand outside and protest like a bunch of liberla p*ssy's and see if you want us to pick up our guns to help you.

I don't want to hear another pascifist scream for help as they are having their head crushed by some other democratic "victim". I think once again, we just whip out the protest signs and discuss the pros and cons of him stopping.

Professor my *ss, you're no stinking professor. On second thought, you are probaly the "head" of the department.

Even though my answer is the best, take you 10 points and shove it.

G - wrong again baby - what are you going for a record or something. Partial birth is before the court right now.

There are already moves at the state level for anti abortion legislation in a number of states. If you knew anything, (which apparently you don't) you would know that is where all matters start before they are taken by the supreme court. The process started about 18 months ago and is working it's way up the ladder ya mo.

I'm not conservative and I don't view abortion as murder. On the other hand, there is a point in the slogan "Guns don't kill people; people kill people". That saying ignores the fact that a gun is a facilitator, making it very easy for a person to kill someone (some would say "too easy"), however, but there is a lot of truth in it. To me, the gun-control issue is just a question of degree; of "Where do we draw the line?". Many things can be used as weapons to kill people. Few people would advocate outlawing kitchen knives for this reason and few people believe that private citizens should be allowed to own surface-to-air missiles, but the line has to be drawn somewhere between those two. It seems like a lot of people on both sides of the gun-control issue miss that point, seeing it instead as a black-and-white issue.

For many people, there is a similar gray area when it comes to abortion, having to do with when a fetus should be viewed as an independent human being and not part of the mother's body. For other people, however, because of religious beliefs (for example) it's black and white - as soon as there is a fertilized egg, there is a human being. Thus, if you destroy it, you're committing murder.

You've got to be kidding! You can't compare the two. Get this in your head, guns don't kill people, people kill people with guns. And not only guns, but a variety of weapons, even their bare hands. Abortion is knowingly terminating the life of someone yet to be born, by its own mother's decision mind you. Comparing the two makes no sense, I have no beef with abortion or the NRA, I can see a time and place for both. Your rationalization leads me to believe you would like to see the NRA go away along with guns themselves. What next, knives and all other sharp objects? Put the blame where it belongs if you are going to pretend to care about what goes on in the world. The people themselves.

There are a lot of ways to point out the hypocrisy of the conservative party with out pulling out the gun card. I have never seen a gun jump out of a cabinet load and cock itself and kill some one. Murder is dropping depleted uranium ordinance all over a country. My friends and I shoot guns for fun on the weekends if we have time. Its great you should try it. Abortion is a personal choice that should not be legislated. Don't mix apples and oranges and call it a Paradox.- Libertarian

Um, there is no comparison, an infant is a precious innocent who shouldn't be killed just because it's convenient to. (except for when the mother may die in childbirth, of course)

Also making guns illegal will not stop gun violence, any more than reinstating prohibition would stop drunk driving....

"Republicans are all about power. Democrats are all about liberty."(unless you want to own a gun)
"Republicans find no problem with life-and-death powers, like breeding up a bunch of kids and silencing anyone that doesn't like their pro-family agenda. Democrats are more choice-oriented." (as long as that choice is abortion) "Republicans typically also find no problem in sending forth the military to get what they want."(Gee, I must have missed that on the 6 'o'clock news, military raid on abortion clinics nationwide, film at 11... XD) "Democrats are more believers in good policy, and diplomacy." (it's true, they've never met a tax increase they didn't like...) "It's a yin/yang thing, but at the end of the day, YOUR yang is getting yanked, for another 20 bucks...."(Hmmmm... interesting , especially since due to the current level of tax cuts, the government's received 13% more in revenues than without them. Also, as promised the deficit will have been cut in half this year, three years ahead of schedule...)

I'm sure that you've heard the saying "guns don't kill people, people kill people." It's true. Guns don't pull their own triggers.

Now, aside from cliches, it's important to note that the NRA is around to make sure that we will always have the right to bear arms, which is set forth in the second ammendment: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Bearing arms, and having a mailitia is one way that our country can protect itself from being invaded.

No. Guns don't do anything by themselves - they just sit there.

People kill people, with knives, guns, clubs, whatever. Should we ban knives because they are used in murders? Should we ban bats and tree limbs because they are used in killings? How about acids, legal drugs, rocks. All of these have been used in various murders and killings. Should we ban them also?

How about just punishing those who use the weapon rather than trying to control the entire world. Liberals seem to like making more rules and laws and controlling everyone. Where's the freedom in that??

Let's have some common sense.

The NRA is not the National Killing Association, their platform is the right to OWN firearms, not the right to kill people. This statement would be paradoxical if the NRA was a lobby for murderers, which it certainly is not.

There's hyprisy on both sides.
pro-life and pro cap. punishment
pro-choice and anti-death penalty.

Conservatives care about the unborn but could NOT care less about those who ARE born. They want to control everything in your life. Libs want choice. What's odd and more of a paradox is that Con's want less gov. unless its the gov THEY want to control what you do, who you sleep with, who you marry, what you say, what you buy, who goes to war, etc. etc.

On the gun thing-- we should be able to own guns but its not a free-for-all. You need a license and registation for a car, why not a gun (certain kinds anyway).

Yes, it's true that Republicans are for murder when it comes to wars, criminals, and such, but only because they feel it is justified. Also consider that Democrats are against the death penalty, and for abortion.

There isn't any party that is strictly for "life."

My opinion is that this lack of consistency on issues by both parties is an example of the flaws of a 2-party system. People should be allowed to vote on the issues, instead.
