Kinsey says 5-10% of males and 2-6% of females. Then again, Kinsey's subjects were vastly white, middle-class college students and business professionals in the 1950's, so I would imagine it has risen somewhat since then, or at least the number of open people has risen.

It depends on the survey. Most tend to say between 2-5% and the Kinsey figure of 10% is a misappropriation of his stats. It depends on how the survey counts gay. Do you count just people who identify as gay? Do you count people who have sex with members of the same sex but claim to be straight? Does fooling around with one same sex person once make you gay? What about thoughts and feeligns? If you fantasize about members of the same sex but never act on it? It all gets very complicated.

The "estimate", I believe, is approximately 2% to 5% of the total population.

It is hard to say, because there are so many that are still in the closet and have not revealed them true selves so maybe any number that is giving to you might not even be remotely right. b So People be true to yourselves and forget what everyone else says. You can't make everyone happy, so first start with yourself.
