I have a Zire 21 that I haven't used in awhile... I wanted to try it out again, but after charging it I reset it. I turned it on and the screen comes up where you have to tap to "align the screen digitizer". The problem is, tapping/touching the screen doesn't do ANYTHING! Anyone know why that could be or how to fix it? I know it's a pretty outdated handheld at this point, but I don't know if I want to invest money in a new one yet, which is why I wanted to try it out again and see if I wanted to continue using one. Any help would be greatly appreciated- thanks!!! If you have more info, you can always email me about it too if you think you can help.

I already tried the hard reset :( and the screen still will not work... I wanted to start using it more to decide if I wanted to upgrade or not, but then it stopped working :(! I didn't want to invest any more money in another one unless I was sure I would want to use it. If I can't get this one to work, I was really considering getting a Z22 anyway. I've had this one for a couple of years... so that's what I paid for it originally. I'm guessing it's probably just shot and I should give up hope of fixing it, but I wanted to try and see if anyone had any suggestions first before I give up all hope...

You could try doing a hard reset. Instructions can be found at http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,case=obj(887)

WARNING: This will cause you to lose all of your data.

If that doesn't work, I would recommend getting a Z22. Those are only $99 at the most and you might be able to get one on sale.

Did you try to hot sync it? I have both a VERY tired M100 and an also well loved ZIRE. And I did say ZIRE, not 10, 20 or what ever, just an old ZIRE. That problem cropped up with my 100 some time after the internal back-up battery died. What I found was an aspect ratio problem that has not been a problem with the ZIRE, so this may not help. When I turn on the M 100 (only after a hot sync) the desk top is like bigger than the screen, so if you go to "click something there, it isn't really there. Just tried this on my ZIRE and it works there too. Try to click up in the far right of the screen (above the "all" setting) and you may get the all mode even though you did not click on it. Guessing that when you do click the all setting, nothing happens. Then you should be able to click on the "system" item in the drop down. Then click on the "welcome" and you will be able to re-size the desk top to fit the screen. Works for me, but I have no idea how it gets that way in the first place. So I just (when it happens) do as above. Hope that fixes it for you.
