i'm a yankee's fan, but if the season eneded right now, i don't see them going the distance only becuase their pitching has been inconsistant at best. detroit is playing some amazing ball, but i think they might lack the maturity to really carry it through( if they stay intact, i'd think they'd be a really great pick for next year). I guess if i'm gonna stick it out there, i'd have to give it to the chicago white sox in the american league. they might be a little shaky in a couple of positions (center field need's a ton of help)...but to me they are the entire package, good offence and for the most part solid 'd' and pitching( i love contreras).

in the national league, the mets are playing incredible baseball right now. their sticks seem to always be on fire and with pedro and glavine pitching the way they are, they almost seem unbeatable. billy wagner might be the thorn in their side, he's great, but he show's a vunelrability that could be the mets down fall in tight games.

of course st louis is out there too. right now without poujous, they might not be able to put it all to bed, but it's early...and i'm sure when he comes back....the cards will be a major contender.

the reality is it's way too early in the season to think in terms of october, a lot of teams cleveland, oakland, minesota, which were getting shlacked early on are starting to get all the pistons running at the same time...oh yeah let's not forget the dodgers...they are really starting to turn it on.

personlly, i'm thinking this could end up being an exciting season. there are a lot of good teams out there....the diffrerance between the "have's' and the "have not's" is a clearly defined as in years past.

Pre-season picks were St. Louis Cards vs. ChiSox, with St. Louis winning it.....but I'm changing to an all NY final between the Yankees and Mets, with the Mets winning their first since 1986, although being a Dodger/Angel fan I hate these picks

It's gotta be either the White Sox, Mets or my dark horse is the Tigers...if Detroit can not collapse after the all star break I'd love to see what happens in the playoffs.

But if I had to pick one...the White Sox.

If Pedro and Glavine can keep it up the Met's will be tough.

The Yanks offense is stout enough to carry them untill the pitching shakes out.

An all NY series with the Yanks taking the prize.

AL East: Boston, AL Central: Chicago, AL West: Texas, Wild Card: Toronto, with Chicago over Toronto and Texas over Boston in the ALDS, and Chicago over Texas in the ALCS.

NL East: New York, NL Central: St. Louis, NL West: Los Angeles, Wild Card; Philadelphia, with St. Louis over Philadelphia and New York over Los Angeles in the NLDS, and St. Louis over New York in the NLDS.

Chicago to repeat, with a 4 games to 2 series win...

I'm a yankee fan here, but i have to say that as of now it will and should be the mets and white sox in the world series this year. from those two, the white sox would win.(again)
