I have been to the Circus Circus but I would not stay there. First, when you look for a hotel in Vegas consider this. All of the big hotels on the Strip are great. The two most important things are location and price. Stay on the strip in the center of all of the hotel locations so that you can walk to see all of the hotels and casinos, and all of the free attractions. The best place to stay to do that is in one of the hotels on or nearest to Flamingo Rd & the Strip. At that corner is Ceasers, Bellagios, the Flamingo, Ballys, and The Paris hotels.
The Circus Circus is on the very north end of the Strip, a long, long walk to all of the main attractions. Its a hotel for people with kids. Rooms are nice and budget priced, but the circus, arcades and amusement parks means there are kids all over the place. I would only stay there if I had kids, wanted a lower priced room or wanted a lower priced buffet.

Circus Circus was the only place to stay in Vegas if you have kids way back in the 70's. Now it is just an old, dumpy, and straight up ghetto hotel. I would recommend New York New York (best rollercoaster in town) or Mandalay Bay (best play pool) if you are bringing the kids.

Circus Circus is one of the older hotels and is VERY child-oriented. Unless you are taking young children, I would suggest the Venetian, Mirage, Treasure Island - all within walking distance to Circus Circus and they are much cleaner facilities.

Its a dump but its fun to go and ride the rides for a little bit if you have kids. If you dont you may not stay there for more that 5 minutes.
