Yes, monster fire in the state of Washington, 1994 Tyee Fire. )One of the largest fires recorded in the state. Declared a natural disaster then, and 12 years later, still a natural disaster. Just this last Monday evening, two people were caught in and almost killed in a mudslide caused from heavy rains, but there was very little vegetation to hold the hill due to the fire. Around here, mudslides are not common because of the vegetation, but where fire has been through, it is a big hazard. The fire itself was a major hazard nearly trapping many fellow firefighters in a firestorm. The fire on this fire was the most erratic fire that has been seen. The fire vortexes literally ripped 70 foot tall trees, roots and all, out of the ground and cariied them at least 100's of yards before they touched the ground again. There were tree branches that weighed over 100 lbs and more than 20 feet long in our apple trees, which were at least two miles from the fire front. Talk about power!

Yes I was in an F5 Tornado May 3 1999 in Moore Oklahoma. It was the worst thing I have ever expirenced. wind speeds of up to 318 mph Highest ever recorded on the face of the earth, baseball sized hail, and more destruction than I have ever seen in my whole life, and hope to God I never see again the single most horrific thing I have ever seen. I no longer live in Oklahoma (go figure) but still to this day when the sky get dark and the wind starts to blow I get paranoid !!!

Numerous hurricanes. The most notable was Hurricane Hugo which came through SC in 1989. I was about 15 years old.
It came in at Charleston & the eye moved slightly NW towards Charlotte, NC so that the upper right quadrant came right over us. That is the worst part of a hurricane.
It was one of the scariest things I have ever experienced.

I was in the Sylmar Quake in California in 1971, actually, I lived in Sylmar at the time of the quake. Also, in a hailstorm that produced grapefruit size hail. Camped through two tornadoes and sat in my car through another. The tent and car held up just fine.

Yes. I was in a dive boat off the coast of the Phuket, Thailand the day of the tsunami. Fortunately, the dive boat was protected in the cove of Phi Phi Le near the Viking Cave.
