Any soil so long as it is well drained. Just because they can go for long periods without water doesn't mean they don't like a good drink of water as well as any other plant but they do not like soil that is cold and wet at the same time.

Any soil not too much water. Mine even grow in the snow. Texas Panhandle.

i have found that cactus are not to picky...any type of soil will work. though they do not like alot of water.

any common soil, just be sure that it is well drained, they will not tolerate damp soil locations
