Try Freecycle... http://www.freecycle.org/ and see if there is a group in your area. Someone may want it.

Great question, and it includes computers, refrigerators, old TVs, cumbersome old sofas, &c., well, we are lucky where I live, and maybe you can extrapolate my solution so it will work for you. Because we live on a busy street, whatever I lug down to the end of our driveway is gone within about twenty minutes. I make a "FREE!" sign which i tape in an obvious place, and as cars go by, WHAMEE! Gone! I dragged out this 1930s sofa which must have weighed 300 pounds and when i got back to the garage door, four tech college students were tying it to the back of their Volvo stationwagon! I ran back with a long length of clothesline and helped them get it secured. So, even if you don't have a driveway that feeds into the community's collective car trunk, you have to think if you know someone who is on a busy street and your problem is half-solved. Then you have to bring part A to part B = Presto! Good-bye dishwasher. If you have a school or college, grab a 4x6 index card and write it up and put it on the bulletin board there. Students are looking for that kind of thing all the time, especially a bunch of guys who have taken an apartment together to cut down costs. Hey, good luck to you. It always look big and bulky until it vanishes!!! Best to you from G. in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A.

Try the American Federation of the Blind- check your yellow pages for the number. They will load it and haul it away for free and it goes to people who are in need. They also love to receive other items like clothing, housewares, furniture, etc. They'll give you a receipt for your donation to use at tax time, also.

Have you tried putting it out in front of your house or by your sidewalk curb? Here in our neighbourhood, the best day to put stuff out for free are Saturdays and Sundays because those days are garage sale days and a lot of people are looking for stuff that is really cheap and free even as long as it is working of course. Make sure to put a huge sign saying "FREE WORKS GREAT!!!" or whatever is the condition of your free item...
