I have ridden motorcycles for 40 years, in states that do and don't require a helmet, and except for when I'm having a brain cramp, always wear a helmet. Ask yourself if thinking that you look cool, is smarter than staying alive. I own and ride a 2002 Harley FLSTSi, and will not even carry a passenger unless they put on a helmet. I have one just for them.

Yes, California has helmet laws. I would wear a helmet on the highway, but not around town, if there was no law. Helmets have some advantages, such as cuts down the wind in the ears. On a cold day it helps. Some helmets make handy weapons if you ever find yourself in a tight spot.
I detest being told to wear a helmet. The idea that grown people are not free to choose is appalling to me. Its not whether I would wear a helmet or not giving I had the choice, its taking away my freedom to decide is what bugs me. So those of you that live in states without helmet laws, enjoy the freedom while you still have it. I gaurantee it that there are those in high places scheming right now to take away ur rights.

I ride a 2006 Harley StreetRod and I wear a full face by choice. I live in South Texas and even with the high temps, my full face is vented very well. I am currently buying a new flip-up made by Caberg called the Mirage. Flip-up are a great option and the Caberg converts into a 3/4 also.

I've got a Moto Guzzi - it's been referred to as an Italian harley - I always wear my helmet, and usually my armored touring jacket, and gloves. There are too many crazy drivers who are not paying attention out there to chance it. I'm not concerned about my skills - it's the old lady making a left turn that you gotta watch out for.
Helmet law or not, it's stupid to ride without one.
Cheers!

It should not matter what brand or type of two wheeled cycle you ride.
Have you ever heard of anyone ever getting there brains scraped off the road and put back in their head.
When you crash (and you will) you can get a new arm or leg but they have only replace part of a face.
It will be like forever before you can get a new head.
I hope you will always wear a helmet and keep your brains in your head.
Always ride safe.

no brain bucket for me. I think the idea of a state forcing me to wear one is insane. I understand that if I should wreck and become brain damaged the states are worried that i will be a burden on the state, but lets get real. Florida has a great law. If you have medical insurance then you dont have to wear a helmut.
And to these states that want to make laws about protecting me... why dont you make it a law that school buses have to have seat belts, and then worry about an adults safety,

i wear a helmet most of the time. it is not a required in my state, but i've eaten enough bugs and gravel and shelled corn-which hurts a lot more than any "biker" criticism. plus, if you do have a big event ,it can't hurt. also, a helmet does little good for your skin if you slide around-that's what leather is for. if you have a choice in your state please choose wisely.
