I've never heard of any mythical covered wagon, but one type of wagon used to migrate west was called a Conestoga wagon. (The other most common type of wagon was called a Prairie Schooner.)

Ticonderoga is the name of a city in New York, which is on and near the site of the former Fort Ticonderoga, which was the site of important battles in both the French and Indian Wars, and the Revolutionary War.

Perhaps the mythical wagon you've heard of was named after the city or the fort?
