Fortunately, the weather will be a little cool so you can wear something with a jacket or sweater over it. Try Something in a gold brokay, it looks good on anyone and the heavier material will fit more flat and not "roll".

Hi, first of all congrats on the upcoming nuptuals. Secondly, being mother of the groom is just as important as mother of the bride and so you should look just as gorgeous. Check out this website:
http://www.barriepace.com/bp/NewCategory/NewCategory.aspx?id=1&category_name=Mother%20of%20the%20Bride
And since it is a mid-morning September wedding I would stick to the shorter styles and you could go either darker or lighter with the color. You are on the border between summer and fall so as long as it's not black or white you should be fine. And if you are a little heavier then keep it simple (not too much ruffles) and well tailored. A jacket is slimming over a dress.
Good luck.

Great suggestions already! I would go with something long, sleek, and eye-catching - it's a very special day for you, too!
Now, how about some specifics? I work as a personal shopper and my customers RAVE about the following dresses, available at Nordstrom.com:
Cachet Stretch Organza Skirt Set, item 147146
Cachet Off-Shoulder Dress, item 145822
Alex Evenings Column Dress with Bolero, item 36571
Cachet Beaded Shantung Mock Two-Piece Dress with Jacket, item 145332
I would also suggest browsing the wedding selections at websites like Nordstrom.com , Neimanmarcus.com , or Macys.com. Neiman's is a bit pricy.. and Macy's doesn't have a specific wedding department, so most of the people I talk to prefer Nordstrom.

I really need more information, such as the theme of the wedding, formality, etc. But... Off-white is a safe bet, or a pastel shade of pink. If the leaves are turning, though, I would go with an off-white. Something a little bit long and sleek to hide the weight, but nothing too flowing, as you don't want to upstage the bride. Sensible jewelry like pearls, and minimal makeup. Pumps.

First find out the color scheme for the wedding and the color the mothers areexpected to wear. Go on a wedding website and look at some of the choices of outfits for mothers or go to several stores and look at outfits. You know what flatters your body type.

Wear a dress that you like and matches the color theme of the wedding, but not too much. Make sure the dress is nice and comfortable.

Check with your son and his bride-to-be to see if they have any preferences (ie color, style)... then choose something that flatters you - you could take an honest friend shopping with you who can help you find an outfit that will not only look good but make you feel good... this is a day that you will want to feel good and comfortable! Also, this way it will be something that you can definitely wear again!!!

you may want to consider the color that the bridal party is going to wear, i would stick with a shade that is darker than what the bridal party is wearing, it will look slimming. next i would find a dress that is asymmetric, something that will flatter your figure. try looking in fashion magazines to get ideas on that. only you can determine what looks good on you. good luck on your search, and have fun doing it.
