I read in Readers' Digest many years ago that not only was it OK to talk to yourself, but to answer yourself was okay also. BUT, when you say "HUH, what did you say?" to yourself, then there may be a problem.

Yes...every day. Especially if I hear something stupid on the news or TV, I have to remark. Usually if I'm angry, I'll make such scathing remarks that it makes me laugh & I crack myself up. When I talk to myself, I'm really humorous, but still haven't quit my day job. The irreverence my self-talk dialogue has for some of the more unfair things that go on helps me to put things in perspective; it is a really healthy thing to do when it comes naturally.

All the time! I find it a valuable tool in thinking through an idea, in planning, in self-checking my work.

The act of hearing yourself speak engages many different parts of the brain in the thinking process, which can generate ideas faster and more efficiently.

Right at this very moment while I answer your questions, and this makes 3 times in one evening.
I talk to myself all the time. My verbal thoughts , that only I want to hear out loud .

Sure. Constantly. I think it's only a problem if I start answering myself back. And eating paint chips. And wearing my clothes backwards...
