Well..in Indiana the average wage of an LPN is about 20.00. I was reading some other answers and I started out as a LPN then went back to school several times to get my RN and BSN..I would suggest getting your LPN first for several reasons..first you only go to school for 1 year,,second it is so competitive to get into school anymore that even LPN school is hard to get into, third you get so much experience as a LPN because it is basic nursing care and with that experience it makes your RN easier..and most hospitals and other institutions will pay you to go back to school..its a win win situation...I love being a nurse..I can't imagine doing anything else..You must always remember that the joy and reward come from your heart that you are making a difference in someones life and you won't hear alot of thank you's...but every once in a while you will get a hug or a thank you that will keep you getting up everyday and looking forward to making a difference again...This may sound silly but if you are looking in becoming a nurse take the opportunity to shadow a nurse and see what kind of day they have..hope this helps...

About $10-12 an hour. I hope your research convinces the readers to go ahead and get their RN, and preferably BSN, to earn real money.
