Yeah, I can totally agree. Her performance in that movie was good, but it wasn't spectacular. She has done better parts than that one, and didn't win an Oscar for it!

As usual, the leading actress category was extremely competitive this year. All of the women nominated deserved to win. Perhaps the deciding choice for voters was the fact that Dame Judy and Charlize have both already won an Oscar & Keira is too "box office" right now. The only real competitors were Reese and Felicity, and I believe the massive attention (well deseved) Felicity has gotten for Desperate Housewives, (she got an emmy) bumped her out for Academy voters. Bottom line, since there are usually so few really good leading roles for women in any given year, most of the time, it could be left to a crap shoot to pick the winner and still get a credable deserving performance.

As soon as they read and the winner is Reese Witherspoon, I was not impressed. The academy only focused I believe that she sang her own songs and not the actual performance. I have seen actresses that made me say she deserve the award(like Cate Blanchett who played Katherine Hepburn in the Aviator) but did not feel that way about Reese Witherspoon. I like her but I think Joaquin stole the show.

I would have to disagree. Walk the line. showcased Reeses' range as a great actress. She was very deserving (just like Felicity Hauffman) to be nominated. And I'm happy that she won the Oscar. I thought it was a brillant role. Especially brave , because she was playing a real person that lived!

Reese is a cutie. She did what she could for this part but the
movie itself was not enough in depth of Johnny Cash and his
lifestyle. Everyone raved about the movie and when I saw it, it wasn't quite as good as I expected. It kind of fell short or was lacking more story. The Actors and Actresses were very good for
what their parts were but you can only do so much if the writer did
not give more storyline. It did not have the depth , like when he went to jail or got caught cheating or abusing liquor.

Actually, I don't think anyone else could have done it better. I thought she was great. I thought Joaquin was great too. I did, however, think that the movie itself (although good) was overrated.

I thought she did a great job especially since she did her own singing. I do agree that Joaqin should have won Best Actor though. Its no different though when Kate won forTitanic and Leo didn't.

Freeway is my number one favorite Reese Witherspoon movie. I liked the part when she was beating on her stepfather.
