Instant gratification comes with somethings such as the internet but too much of it can lead to a declined sense of patience since once you get things instantainiously you want everything to be that way. You can send holiday cards in a matter of milliseconds online instead of almost 2 weeks to get across the country on ponies for $10 which in today's market would be in the thousands of dollars. And now stuff like email is FREE. Free as samples left out for customers who don't even care about the actual product but by the fact that it's free. Work is being pushed out of the equation and as a result times of emergencies are becoming more and more desperate. Sure, we have the best technology ever created but with instant gratification if there is the slightest flaw in the system we immidiately render it useless and invalid as in many cases society as a whole faces today. "Instant" has basically come close to par with "food" considering billions of people use it as an excuse to get, recieve, transmit, and accept data and information from all sorts of places in many different ways. But once you get to "instant" there's no reducing that time. It just simply never gets any better. So once our "make everything better NOW" culture decides it's time to re-invent "instant", we're in BIG trouble since it's impossible.

We do live in a world of instant gratification. Over the past twenty or thirty years, we've come to want everything faster, better, and longer. Parents started working harder, longer hours, which left their kids alone after school. Television and music began marketing to kids, video games gave instant, controllable entertainment. After twenty years, society got used to instant gratification, and now we expect it.

Yes, we don't live for the future anymore.

Imagine parents migrating to this country for their kids future. Long term gratification for their family's future.

Instant gratifications include...

buying a sporty car(that will be out of style in 4 years anyways) rather than a house.

Or even signing that basketball deal out of high school rather than going to college.

Or my best example i think....

How many people flock to McDonald's for an instant meal rather than taking the time and using less money to fix a healthy huge tasty meal that could be used as left overs all week.

The list goes on, but if we do not see immediate results in our favor, apparently its not worth our time.

I am above no one- I am guilty of this too.

Corporate America has used this to their advantage BTW, easy equals sales.

Of course...this isn't the Pony Express we're dealing with here! With progress comes instant gratification. I hate to go to McDonald's and wait for my food...I could do that in a restaurant, and then have to tip the waitstaff! :)

i imagine it really is because we've television. Books are all substance and no image, yet television is all image. Even the comedians grew to develop into out to be scripted, and the pollitians have speach writers to. If the president and all presidential applicants have speach writers -- who write what they are instructed to little doubt no longer what they prefer to -- who's operating the coach? All i understand is that each thing on television is a coach -- for image. i also imagine it really is money. undesirable ppl desire "substance" in a pal -- someone who will be there to assist them out in a jam -- help with the youngsters, etc -- rich ppl in reality desire someone who seems reliable and exhibits actually everyone what reliable corporation they have. if a wealthy human being needs help, they merely purchase it, which includes a nanny. so we were given a collection of wealthy ppl who never went hungry an afternoon of their lives, who've no longer some thing in straight forward although the television all of them watch.... scary.
