Not just Egyptian market but in general people use switches instead of hubs for performance reasons. Switches know how to deal with collisions better. (Collisions - when two or more nodes try to transmit at the same time.)

Hubs are ways to distribute network accessability. They are the least expensive way of splitting a connection, but it comes at a cost. For each connection with a hub, you divide the throughput by the number of connections. In other words, if you have a 100 Mb/s input, with one device connected you will have 100 Mb/s going to that computer/device. If you have 2 devices connected, each will get 50 Mb/s, and so on. It is sort of like having an extension cord plugged into the wall, and several devices connected to it.
Actually, the difference between routers and switches is starting to get blurred. Anymore, if you get an inexpensive router, say for home use, it will be a switch/router. Switching limits the number of devices talking to your computer, leading to less collisions on the network. The switch/router will enable all devices to communicate on the network at the same speed of the network, without division of throughput.

Switches are just better. As far as I know the main difference is that with a HUB only two computers can talk at once, so all the computers on the network have to take turns. With a switch, multiple computers can talk simultaneously, so they work faster.

Switches are much more intelligent than hubs are, in a manner of speaking. They regulate the network much more efficiently, and keep the wrong information from getting to the wrong machine. A hub just allows everything through.
