Definitely something USED!!! You want a vehicle that has some miles on it so you don't feel bad when they get into an accident - which MOST new drivers do!! Something they can handle, not too big -- along the lines of a Cavalier or Honda.

A nice used car. But try to get at least a 90's version b/c any older and it's harder to drive and more dangerous. In my local ads I saw a 90's Mustang Convertable going for $2500! Just look around and find a good deal. good luck; I'm working on getting my first car too.

something with less then 150 hp and older than 95. Thats what my first car was. I hated it but it was so slow that I never got in an accident or could do something stupid with it. Now that I have a better car (02 Malibu) I appreciate it and take care of it

I would suggest a 1978 Ford LTD ----- it is a huge boat that if ran into anything will probably still run ---- they can also seat approx. 10 close freinds --- and they get about 15 miles to the gallon so a part time job would need to be worked for gas
