the difference is basic. First off plants, at the celluar level have cell walls and animals do not. Second, plants have the ability to create there own food, using a process called photosynthesis where as animals have to eat other animals or plants for engery. Next, Pants do move at a very slow rate, have you ever seen timelapsed videos of plants growing, or flowers following the sun. From what i can remember in my biology book, locomition is not consider one of the differnces.... I hope this was found somewhat helpful

Many; locomotion is definitely one. There are many differences between the cell structure too. Almost all of the Plants can manufacture their own food while almost all animal cannot. A Plants growth is not affected by age. Plants also cannot communicate their ideas while an animal can express his feelings by altering his looks and by changing his style.

essentially a plant "inhales" carbon dioxide, which is exhaled by animals and considered a waste product derived from the oxygen animals inhale, which is at the same time considered to be the plants "exhaled" waste product from the carbon dioxide.technically a plant does have locomotion,it may not move from it's location in the soil, but if you watch a plant at different periods through the day you would notice that it moves following the general direction of the sun.some do more than that.

The ability to manufacture their own food. Having a cell wall might be one of the distinctions, too. I don't think locomotion is... there are some microscopic plants that can move from place to place, aren't there?

They are both living organisms. Its just that one can move. They both can eat(for plants, it's called photosynthesis) and the both can reproduce(yes, even plants can get thier freak on!!!)
