The chances are very slim. In the first two weeks after conception, the embryo has only attached to the lining of the uterine wall while the cells multiply, and is not sharing a blood flow with the mother. As long as you're not drinking anymore, your baby will be fine.

I am a Nursing student training in OB/GYN medicine. I am also 39 weeks pregnant with my second child. From my research and from the info I gathered from my doctor, you could be on almost anything during that time and your baby will be fine because implantation had not occured yet. I had the same fear beacause I took the morning after pill with this baby and it obviously didn't work so I though the medicine would harm the baby.

This is not a question to be addressed by a bunch of amateurs like most of us. Get yourself to a good OB/GYN IMMEDIATELY if not sooner. Tell him all. The heavy drinking might also have been the result of something traumatic going on in your life or body and could have caused other damage besides damage to the baby. A good doctor who takes the time to listen to you should be able to guide you in making whatever decisions you need to make. Don't hurt yourself more by kicking yourself now. Just get the help you need even if it means borrowing money or asking for assistance through your state's medical assistance program or organizations such as Planned Parenthood.

You should not worry. Even a Dr. will tell you its not worth the worry. As long as you dont continue to drink, no injury will be done to the child. Just remember not to drink anymore, because youll worry about it til the baby is born. I got drunk a couple times before I found out I was pregnant and I havent had the baby yet, but my Dr told me not to worry. Take care, and try not to worry because people do this all the time before knowing theyre pregnant and no damage is done.

I don't think you injured the baby. Just be sure not to be over drinking during the rest of your pregnancy. I have four healthy children, and I drank a glass of wine on occasions while pregnant with them, and they are all great kids!!

well heavy drinking in the first trimester can cause birth defects in some cases. speak to you ob dr. and inform them of all your concers. they will keep an eye on things and maybe do an early utrasound to rule out any problems. i'm sure many a baby is born to a mother who drank alcohol before she found out she was pregnant. don't worry overly until you have something to worry about. just speak to your dr. and they will let you know if you need to worry. excessive undue worrying is not good for you or your baby. good luck

I went on a huge bender before I knew I was pregnant with my second child. Most problems like fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) occur when there is a chronic problem of drinking. Just relax, eat right and take prenatal vitamins...I'm sure you'll be fine.
Congrats!

I got drunk the night before my vow renewal and did not know that I was pregnant. My son is now 2 and is sooo smart. As long as the drinking doesn't continue on since you have found out you were pregnant, you and your baby should be fine. Relax and enjoy being pregnant! Congratulations!!
