It is a physically demanding sport but not the most. You need to have a strong back and neck to be able absorb the tubulences due to tough terrain.
The toughest sport i feel is Formula 1. Where you experience extreme G-Forces and get dehydrated at a very fast pace.

Motorcycle racing of any kind of extremely demanding on the body. Weight transfers between different parts of the body and high level of "muscling" the bike is needed. it is NOT just using your hands and riding a bike.

Yes it is. Try the 'Baja 1000' - with 5 quick pit stops.
A Thousand Miles folks - not kilometers

As weird as it might sound, I think auto racing, like Lemans is most enduring... Those cars get in excess of 120 degrees and the drivers push near 6 Gs in turns...

I doubt motocross is anywhere close to being as physically demanding as an Ironman Triathlon - 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride and a 26.2 mile (42.2 kilometer) run.
