SETI (pronounced ['sɛti]) is the acronym for Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence, organised efforts by humans to detect intelligent aliens. A number of efforts with "SETI" in the project name have been organised, including projects funded by the United States Government. The generic approach of SETI projects is to survey the sky to detect the existence of transmissions from a civilization on a distant planet. (This approach is not science fiction.)

There are great challenges in searching across the sky to detect a first transmission that can be characterised as intelligent, since its direction, spectrum and method of communication are all unknown beforehand. SETI projects necessarily make assumptions to narrow the search, and thus no exhaustive search has so far been conducted.

SETI is Search for ExtraTerestrial Intelligence. It involves searching space by scanning it with radio telescopes looking for specific patterns that could only be generated by an intelligent being rather than a random natural source.

SETI is not a spacecraft in space. It primarily uses ground based telescopes like the huge one at Arecebo or the Very Large Array (VLA) in New Mexico, USA (as seen in the movie Contact).

SETI stands for Search For Extra-Terrestial Intelligence, it was started in the 1970's as a search for life outside out planet. It's not actually a sat but a huge linkage of sat dishes across the globe scanning different sectors of space looking for signals from another intelligent somewhere in the galaxy. So far they have been unsuccessful.

SETI stands for Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence. it is an earth based network of scientists and common people that "listen" (by way of radio signals) for evidence of extraterrestrial life. i don't think they have any space-based listening equipment.

It's and acronym: Search for ExtraTerrestrial Intelligence. It's not a thing, it's a project. And yes, it still exists. The goal is to find intelligence other than that on earth. The name is pretty self-explanatory when you know what it stands for...

Gandhi and Malcolm X are in Hell in accordance to Christians. i imagine that through wondering the justice of this you teach that you're a sturdy thoughtful man or woman that's tremendous yet serious wondering about moral values like this may undermine your faith. which may also be tremendous from my atheist attitude yet would nicely be demanding on you. evaluate it tho - we choose more desirable atheists from Muslim backgrounds.,
