There's a fine line between online chat and online sex. If you are just typing away with a group of people and having fun, that's one thing. But, when you are having a sex chat with someone online (even though you never met them and have no intention to) yes, that crosses a line. The computer creates a connection between the two of you as sure as if you were on the telephone talking dirty to each other. Phone sex is definitely cheating, and so is cyber-sex chat. I hope your child's report get's an A+!

If you can't do it or say it in front of your spouse, it's cheating/betrayal. Just think, "If my spouse was doing this behind my back, how would I feel about it?".
