i don't have a problem myself it was an observation but i noticed that some of the supervisors treat the younger employees(16-25) better the the older ones (40-50)

In most cases the age of the worker doesn't matter, it's the amount of time that the worker has been in the same job. If they've been there for a long time, they get burnt out on their job and it's just too much effort for the managers to motivate them. Usually the managers can shape and mold the "fresher" employees.

The older workers most likely are being paid more. This is an old problem as you can normally hire two young people for the same money the firm is paying older employees.

Younger workers are more likely to follow stupid instructions because they are reluctant to speak up (do to their youth) or sometimes because they are just not experienced enough to know the instructions are stupid. More experienced workers are more likely to speak up.

Even though it is strongly in the best interest of the company to not do stupid things (and thus the older worker is a good thing to have), many managers have an ego that drives them to value silent obedience above all else.

True. Additionally it has been proven that sex appeal (i.e younger people) get more attention and better jobs.
