No, but you do at least need a CDR drive. Most DVD players can read regular CDs and Video CDs. There are several aplications that can creat a VCD (video CD) that can be played back in most DVD players. Roxio Toast for exaple can burn VCDs. Some newer DVD players can play MPEG2 video that was burned on a regular data CD.

No - you can burn videos on CD as well. There's another format called VCD - which stands for Video CD. A lot of DVD players also play VCD format. There's SVCD as well, which stands for Super VCD - which is of higher quality.

Of course, you can just burn it to standard CD as data, and just view it from your computer.

Only if you want them to be in DVD format. You can burn them as other types of video on normal CD's.

no, all u need is a cd rewriter(burner) and a burning program such as nero. You can convert the files to VCD and then burn them using nero and the cd will work in your dvd player.

if you want to burn to a DVD then yes.

But, if you want to put it as a data file, and burn it to a CD, you can do that also. but when you do this, you cant watch it on a DVD player, just in a computer.

Just the DVD drive wont do, you need to have the DVD burner too.

depends on you, whether you want to store them on a DVD or a CD.
If DVD then go for a DVD burner otherwise CD burner is fine.

If you want to watch them on a DVD player (that doesn't play other media types) then you do.
