On a PC?

I've only got 1 gig, I'm wondering if that could possibly cut it.

I think so. Get a bigger Hard Drive first. Don't get the wrong idea you can do it but you can do a better job with a larger HD.

I used to edit video with 1.4GHz P4 with 256MB of rambus ram with no major problems. It however was slightly frustrating.

With an Athlon 2400+ and 512MB it's much better, still slightly on the slow side.

My AMD ATHLON 64 3200+ with 1 GB ram works well depending on the application which I use to edit. Sony Vegas Video and Adobe ENCORE DVD work great with 1 GB, while poorly written software doesn't work as smooth on 1 GB of ram.

2 GB won't hurt, if you can afford it. Basiclly i think the answer would depend on the software package you are using for the editing.

EDIT: for capturing your harddrive should be fast, large is only good so you can kepp the very large files for longer, if you can maybe go for a raid config if you are having problems capturing and you don't want to decrease the bitrate while capturing.

Lol, you're funny, go ahead man. I've edited video on 512 of ram and 777 mhz processor, lol, so you'll definitely be fine.

Have fun!!
