I'm taking a humanties class during the summer. I don not quite undertand what irony and satire mean. Can anyone help me out please? If so, I would greatly apprecitate it.

First, I would like to thank you on helping me brush up on my reader skills. OK, lets begin with irony...

There are 3 types of irony.

Verbal: Where someone says one thing but it really means something else.

Dramatic: Where everyone else knows a certain something that the person who really should be informed about it, doesn't know.

Situational: Where everyone expects one thing to happen but they get something they didn't expect in return.

Now Satire....

Satire: This is when you attack something by making it look foolish or ridiculous. This is mixing anger and hatred with comedy to help ease in the stupidity of a situation or even a person.
