Why can't you just get a stereo with an 1/8 inch input and run a line direct from the headphone jack in your mp3 player?

Any stereo with an auxiliary input can connect to almost any MP3 player with a simple cable. Radio Shack and many other stores have a cable that will plug in to the headphone jack of your MP3 player and connect to the RCA input jacks on the stereo.

I don't know if this is what you'd be interested in, but look up D-Links Media Lounge. I just run my mp3s right off the computer to my stereo. I love it.
