In 20 years, VH1 will be showing, "I love the 00's"
A lot of your music, fashion, tastes, etc... develop when your around 15 to 21 years old, High school and right after.
People who were that age in the 80's are now 32 to 47. It is very nostalgic to those of us in that group. And the 15 year olds now were not born in the 80's so it is retro to them.
Wait another 5-10 years and everything will be 90's cool.

No. It was a short-lived era/phenomenon. The 80's was an ecclectic era with a style/music/culture all its own. An era that you either HATE or LOVE, no in-betweens.
I personally hated the 80's, I wasn't born yet, but I still terribly hated the sense of materialism in that era. The era was for most a party era, but let's not remember all that happened then; the Berlin Wall fell, the Reagan era, Tiannenman square, and the countless revolts in Eastern Europe.
The 80's was an era where the show Dynasty was reality, an era so materialistic, people still can't stop thinking about Boy George and Toyota Tercel's, a marketing campaign so strong it still sticks to the minds of Generation E.

Geez, I hope it goes away. . . I was a teenager in the 80's, and I cringe when I look back at photos of myself. The clothes, the hair, the NEON, AAAAACCCCKKK!
And when I think that people are doing that look all over again now. . . wow. That's just crazy right there.

People like what they like! So, there will always be someone who likes the 80's! Fortunately, not all people are alike, so we are not all locked into the same things.

no, especially since some of the accessories are coming back. granted, the hair, shoulder pads, and side pony tails are definitely out, but the ankle boots, leggings, and pleated skirts are def coming back this fall. check out michael kors new line for the fall.

and i went to disneyland back then for gradnight
