Blood Bank I use always does at least a urine dip stick on you to make sure your not. I actually gave blood in my 4 1/2 month because I did not find out I was pregnant with my second child (6 weeks after my first) until my 5th month! Nothing happened to the baby, I was fine she was fine. They do not advocate it because you need all the resources you can while pregnant. So if you know you are, then don't. IF your not sure you are, then do not give blood until you do, simple. Don't stress over it, but next time just make sure you check first...:)

Before you embark on a good deed, find out what's involved first. You should have known about pregnancy excluding you from blood donation. Now...find out if you ARE pregant. If you aren't, you're off the hook. If you are and you want this child, it should be okay as it was only a pint (unit). If you are and you don't want the child, it doesn't matter.

I accidentally donated blood before I knew I was pregnant. It was one of those Red Cross things at work. Well I went to bathroom and they found me passed out on the floor. Not a good idea.

They don't want you to be pregnant because the baby needs the blood. If blood is taken it could decrease the oxygen to the babies brain. You are not far along to worry about that. I wouldn't do it again until I found out.

It can't hurt the baby it's just that having blood taken at that high volume makes it very easy to faint if you are pregnant. Fainting and Falling can hurt the baby and yourself. But if you didn't feel severely light headed you're probably not pregnant anyway.

Donating blood shoud not hurt the embryo if you are pregnant. Your body would have replaced the blood most likely before it really even noticed it was gone.

No, because the heart starts beating around 6 weeks. Until then it is basically cells reproducing. I would think it would be more of a concern if you were receiving blood.

No. Pregnant women produce more blood than non-pregnant women. But, if you are having unprotected intercourse, you shouldn't be donating blood because of other infections you could have.

The reason they asked if you were is for your body produces blood for you and the baby and if they are taking it from those that are not prego and it exhausts them imagine what it would make a prego woman feel? It is not life threatening but it is not that healthy either.
